Employers Use ICE Threats to Silence Workers
Complaints of employers using immigration threats to intimidate workers are rising across California, particularly in industries such as construction. Worker advocates say the tactic can discourage employees from reporting wage theft, unsafe conditions and other labor violations. North Coast States Carpenters Union labor compliance investigator Jaime Arteaga says even the threat of deportation can be enough to stop workers from speaking up.
